In April of her sophomore year, she was inducted into the National Honors Society maintaining a gpa of 3.9. For her senior year in high school, Safiyyah decided to make a tough decision by transferring to Eastern Regional High School to help spread her name across the South Jersey area for basketball. Though she endured much trials and tribulations, Safiyyah learned to adapt and persevere, leading her team in rebounds, points, and team spirit. Along with the success Safiyyah has, came the hard work. Since the start of her career, Safiyyah made a commitment to basketball, which included an intense AAU season, training camps, and countless father-daughter workouts, and because of this, her basketball career evolve into a full basketball scholarship at Felician University, which she will be attending in September. We expect great things from this young lady as she continues to grow in leadership as she did with community service efforts such as feeding the homeless and tutoring fellow high school students. She was also named a recipient of the NJ Rising Scholar Recognition Award at the Malcolm Bernard HBCU college fair in Trenton, NJ in which only 75 students in the state of New Jersey was selected for. This award is given by the Amistad Commission of the New Jersey Department of Education. Safiyyah was also invited to be inducted into The National Society of High School Scholars. As a member of the NAACP Camden County East Youth Council, she served as the membership chair. Throughout her life Safiyyah has maintained her spiritual and religious beliefs, and they have helped her to stay grounded. Safiyyah Lee was a member of the Masjid Freehaven Young Muslims (YM), while a member she studied Qur’an , Islamic Studies, and assisted with various Masjid events and activities. As this young lady continues to grow in maturity and wisdom, we know she will be an excellent Muslimah in our society.
