2019 Exceptional Muslimah, Sajwa Pasha

Ms. Sajwa Aiesha Pasha is a young lady with tremendous drive. She has blossomed into a mature, intelligent, hardworking, young adult who defines what an Exceptional Muslimah is. Sajwa’s esteemed qualities make her well known in various communities in Southern New Jersey. She dedicates her time to lead two Southern New Jersey youth programs that are geared towards addressing the needs of young Muslim women. As president of Islamic Social Services Youth Auxiliary and a leader of Young Muslims Sisters of South Jersey, she gives countless hours of her time to uplift her community and improve youth programs for her peers and the future generations.

Sajwa is also an excellent student who works diligently to maintain high levels of academic scholarship. She graduated from the Health Occupations tech pathway at the esteemed Burlington County Institute of Technology. Her four years at BCIT have been nothing short of exceptional. Sajwa set a goal to be within the top ranking graduates and was able to earn a GPA of 4.3 and was placed 7th out of a class of 327. In her junior year, she passed her Health Occupations career major certification, successfully becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant at the age of 16. Sajwa was one of the youngest to achieve this certification and be hired into her field of choice, while maintaining phenomenal grades in her remaining high school courses.

She has been inducted into the National Honor Society, National Technical Honors Society, National Society of High School Scholars and Health Occupations Students of America. Sajwa has been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of programs like W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute at Princeton University, Key Club, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Zeta Delta Zeta Chapter, Archonettes, and has planned and hosted countless community service programs that have strengthened her overall her humility, and sincerity. Sajwa is the recipient of several academic awards including: The Estelle Rice Award, New Jersey Stars and acceptance into the Honors College at Rutgers University.

Sajwa, who marches to the beat of her own drum is known by her witty and strong willed personality. Although she’s still young, she’s wise beyond her years. This intelligent hard-working, young woman is grounded by her firm faith and family. She is admired by her younger siblings and peers as a leader and role model. Sajwa is an authentic soul who excels in academics, character and community involvement. We have great confidence that she will rise to the challenges and expectations that higher education will present and continue to grow as an individual. Insha Allah, Sajwa will continue her schooling at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ where she received a full ride for her academic vigor. She will be double majoring in Psychology and Childhood Studies and minoring in Biology with her ultimate goal of attending Med school and becoming a Pediatric Specialist. May Allah keep her steadfast and focused on her goals. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors
